RORO serves Cadiz-Bantayan route

Good news for travelers in the Western and Central Visayas areas: a roll-on roll-off (RORO) cargo vessel has started plying the route between Cadiz and Bantayan in Cebu.

The Landing Craft Tank (LCT) Valentina Dos will leave Cadiz City Commercial Port in Negros Occidental to Sta. Fe Port in Bantayan Island, Cebu province daily.

Owner Milky Benedicto said the cargo rates start at P3,000 for cars and sport utility vehicles; P6,000 for Canter-type vehicles (light trucks); and P8,000 for 10-wheeler trucks.

Scheduled trips are daily 7 a.m. from Cadiz to Bantayan; and 3 p.m. from Bantayan to Cadiz City. Travel time is about four hours.

While the rates include the driver’s fare, extra passengers will be charged P280 each, the Cadiz City Information Office said.

Starting March, the cargo vessel may start to accommodate regular passengers without cars.
